Walindi Nature Centre

The Walindi Nature Centre was officially opened in 1996 and hosts full-time and visiting NGOs all contributing to the conservation of natural resources in the Kimbe Bay area. The Walindi Nature Centre has five offices, a library, conference room, laboratory, covered outside meeting area and a variety of sleeping/residential accommodation all set amongst colourful park-like gardens with plenty of birdlife and direct access to the marine environment.

The Centre is managed by Mahonia Na Dari as a commercial enterprise to generate income to support some of the ongoing costs of community conservation work.

Facilities & Accommodation

Self-contained bungalows and rooms are available for staff working at the centre and are also rented out to other businesses operating in the area. Additional accommodation is available for researchers and students. Office rooms and use of a shared basic laboratory facility are also available. Larger school groups can be hosted in our dormitory style "bik haus" which accommodates 24 students, has self catering facilities, laundry and nearby teacher rooms.

Transport can be arranged around the Kimbe Bay area and there are also boats and drivers available to hire should your work or research require access to nearby reefs.

Approximate costs for accommodation will vary depending on length of stay, agreed concessions and rates of exchange.

Please contact us for more details.

We welcome visits from both local and international school groups with on site accommodation, transport and self catering facilities available.
